After the events of the Great Clock, Ratchet loses all interest in the battles and save the universe, when a new problem come and his friends come to ask for your help him only answer "I'm tired of being the hero," Talwyn reproached telling that only running but Lombax's completely ignores, Clank tells the others that Ratchet feels guilty and sad about the death of General Alister.
Believing that this was the cause of the problem, the others put
Ratchet against their will in to a memory erasing machine to completely clear your mind the General, but Ratchet combat brainwashing causing a short circuit in the machine and a serious alteration in the mind and personality of the Lombax
Ratchet's mind is shattered becoming a crazy psychopath who enjoys causing damage and problems, attacks and escapes after his companions to fly with them inside the ship, Dark Ratchet now travels the universe in search of battles, recently appeared in the Lylat system where he joined the pirates led by Dark Fox Mccloud

Presentando ahora a Dark Ratchet, su historia es la siguiente:
Tras los sucesos ocurridos en el Gran Reloj, Ratchet pierde todo el interes en las batallas y salvar al universo, cuando surge un nuevo problema y sus amigos acuden a pedir su ayuda el solo contesta "estoy harto de ser el heroe", Talwyn le reprocha diciendole que solo esta huyendo pero el lombax la ignora por completo, Clank despues explica a los otros que Ratchet se siente culpable y triste por la muerte del General Alister.
Creyendo que esa era la causa del problema los demas meten a Ratchet contra su voluntad a una maquina de borrado de memoria para borrar por completo de su mente al general, sin embargo Ratchet lucha contra el lavado de cerebro lo cual provoca un corto circuito en la maquina y con ello una grave alteracion en la mente y personalidad del lombax
La mente de Ratchet queda hecha añicos convirtiendose en un loco psicopata que disfruta causando daño y problemas, ataca a sus compañeros y escapa tras hacer volar la nave con ellos dentro, Dark Ratchet ahora viaja por el universo en busqueda de batallas, recientemete aparecio en el sistema Lylath donde se unio a los piratas liderados por Dark Fox Mccloud
